Yva Las Vegass

Composer

Yva Las Vegass was born in Venezuela, on the year JFK was murdered in the country where they would find themselves 15 years later. They have sung and played the cuatro since the age of five, and have been self-taught other than a month of cuatro lessons. While they have always played and composed music traditional to Venezuela, they also have navigated other genres such as Afro-Cuban, salsa, punk, rock, and “grunge.” Yva has also played with flamenco and Middle-Eastern musicians and had a not-so-brief love affair with electronica starting in the late nineties. Currently living in New York and loving it after serving 25 years in the Pacific (passive-aggressive) Northwest, namely Seattle, Yva considers themselves to be in a perpetual state of semi-retirement, and knows that they will sing until the day they die.
